Claude Counter

Your Claude.ai usage in the menu bar, fetched straight from the source.

Three numbers, always in sight

How much of the five-hour window is spent, how long until it resets, and how much of the week is gone — in the menu bar, without opening anything.

Fetched locally, straight from the source

No telemetry, no analytics, nothing routed through anyone else's server. The usage page is a real Claude.ai window inside the app, so you log in once and stay logged in across reboots.

About 14 MB at idle

Measured in Activity Monitor's memory column, with the repository documenting how to reproduce the figure rather than asking you to take it on trust.

Click the menu-bar item for a short menu — open the usage page, launch at login, refresh now, quit.

Installation builds from source: the makefile creates a stable code-signing certificate once, then builds, signs, copies the app into Applications and launches it. You will be asked for your login keychain password during the certificate step, so the certificate can be used silently afterwards.

Requires macOS 15 Sequoia or newer and a Claude.ai account — the free tier works.

The source is public. What is sold here is a signed, notarised build that installs by double-clicking and keeps itself current; building it yourself remains an option and always will.

Latest change Unreleased

Development is continuous and not yet cut into numbered releases.

Numbered entries will start from the first version packaged for sale. Until then the public repository is the accurate record of what has changed.
